What sets the scarab apart is its extraordinary ability to roll its dung ball in a perfectly straight line, overcoming any obstacles in its path. Even more remarkable is the fact that this insect is the only known creature capable of navigating by following the faint light of the Milky Way galaxy, a revelation that astounded biologists back in 2013.
Fast forwarding 5,000 years, we find ourselves immersed in ancient Egypt, a civilization that held the scarab in the highest esteem, considering it a sacred symbol and a direct connection to the divine realm. It is truly intriguing how a civilization of such grandeur could attribute such profound significance to what appears to be an ordinary insect.
The ancient Egyptians meticulously tracked the sun’s daily journey across the sky, similar to the dung beetle’s unwavering path through the desert sands. To them, the powerful force driving the sun was none other than the mighty scarab beetle god, Khepri.
According to their belief system, the sun represented the “Eye of Ra,” Ra’s chariot, or perhaps his celestial vessel, while Khepri, the god with the head of a scarab, steered this cosmic vessel.
