Venturing across the vast Mexican skies on that fateful day of May 3rd, 1975, was pilot Carlos De Los Santos, embarking on a routine journey from a tranquil Seaport town on the Pacific coast towards the bustling Mexico City.
Little did he know that this flight would carve his name into the annals of aviation, sparking a tale of extraordinary events high above the earthly realm.
Gliding at 10,000 feet under clear skies and impeccable visibility, De Los Santos found himself amid a strange setting. An hour into his flight, an odd grey, wingless object grabbed his attention, looming on the left side of his Piper pa-24 Comanche aircraft.
This peculiar sighting marked the beginning of a series of unexplainable incidents that challenged any logical reasoning.
Amidst the astonishment, he witnessed a small flying saucer with a strange presence hovering above his left wing as he approached Mexico City. While his aircraft surpassed the saucer in size, its enigmatic vibe was unmistakable.
Increasing the surrealism, he caught sight of another saucer to his right, and as he peered forward, a third saucer materialized, moving directly towards him.
A surge of fear washed over him as he witnessed the saucer beneath his aircraft, feeling a sudden jolt reverberating through the plane. Panic gripped him as he realized his aircraft was no longer under his control.
The yoke shifted independently, and the plane ascended to 3,000 meters, perilously close to its operational ceiling. Any further ascend posed a risk of a stall, potentially leading to a disastrous loss of control.
Continuing its ascent, De Los Santos struggled with the understanding that an imperceptible force, apparently emanating from the UFOs, had taken over his aircraft. His efforts to regain authority proved futile.
In a frantic flurry of distress signals, he reported the presence of unidentified objects at his wingtips and below, hurtling towards mountainous terrain.
Surprisingly, the three unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) veered off towards the Pobakatta Pedal Volcano at incredible speeds, releasing his aircraft from their grasp. Though he managed to regain control, the ordeal was far from over; the impact had rendered his landing gear nonfunctional.
Showcasing exceptional courage and resourcefulness, De Los Santos circled the airport ten times, utilizing a screwdriver to manually deploy the landing gear. His triumphant landing bordered on the miraculous.
However, the tale took an intriguing twist. Without the corroborative testimony of Mexican Air Traffic Control, who had also monitored these bewildering objects, the pilot’s reputation and career could have been in jeopardy. While the story made ripples in Mexico, it remained relatively unknown in the United States.
Yet the fascination did not end with the successful landing. Years later, De Los Santos revealed being approached twice by mysterious figures, commonly referred to as the “men in black,” who sternly warned him to keep silent about his extraordinary encounter.
These secretive encounters occurred just before scheduled interviews with Mexican television stations and the esteemed UFO investigator, J. Alan Heineck.
Despite the intimidations, De Los Santos eventually shared his remarkable tale, cementing it as one of the most captivating aviation UAP incidents documented.
